Wedding Program Set up, Layout and Wording

Wedding programs are often similar to a Church Bulletin and are a simple 8.5 inch by 11 inch sheet of paper with a wedding related design on the front like those in our Weddingstar Wedding Programs. Wedding Programs can also be more elaborate and be made to coordinate with your actual invitations as in our Wilton Wedding Invitations and Programs.
Some brides prefer to have something totally unique and use hand made paper to create a cover for their wedding program with the wedding service detailed on paper inside. Rose Petal Paper is very popular for this purpose as it has actual rose petals embedded in the paper itself. The large size sheets that measure approximately 24 by 40 can be cut to whatever size is required.
Make your program in booklet format by using folded sheets of 8.5 x 11 paper for your interior pages and the Rose Petal paper folds in half to make outside of program. Inside is printed in landscape format on the plain sheets and they are then attached to Rose Petal Cover with ribbon tie around spine to create your wedding program. This makes a unique keepsake and an elegant program! We sell handmade papers by the large sheet size by special request.
To set up your wedding program to be printed in MSWord on your home comuputer, under File, Page Setup, Margins, select Landscape Layout and set your left and right margins at .55 inches. Click OK
Under Format, Columns, choose 2 columns, and under width and spacing, enter 1.1 inches under spacing. Click OK.
If you need to adjust your top margin or bottom margin, adjust your settings under File, Page Setup.
The printed portion of your wedding program begins with a centred announcement usually printed in a script or print similar to that used on your invitations and beginning with:
Celebrating the Marriage of
Bride's Name
and
Groom's Name
on (Date)
at (time)
(name of church or hall where wedding is taking place)
(city and province)
From here it goes into the ceremony information usually printed in a very plain font for easy reading and beginning with:
Prelude
Seating of the Guests
Seating of the Groom's Parents
Seating of the Bride's Mother
Processional (music information)
The Wedding Ceremony
(this will be decided by you and your officiant and will vary depending on the arrangements for your ceremony)
Often at the end of your program, the Wedding Party is listed by name as are the Parents of the Bride and Parents of the Groom. This is great reference for the guests who may only now some of the wedding party or one set of parents.
We like concluding your program with a thank you to your guests (you might use the script you used at the beginning) and the verse might read:
Dear Family and Friends,
On this day of happy beginnings,
we thank you for being with us
at this celebration of our love
and the beginning of our new life together.
(Bride and Groom's names)
Remember when getting ready to print, to set your Printer Properties to print Landscape format if it doesn't automatically adjust to this format.
